Memorial Garden Celebration

10 August 2016

The annual Memorial Garden Celebration will take place on Friday evening. This event is held each year before the first home match of the season.

Starting at 7pm, the celebration is an informal gathering to remember those Spireites who have departed since the start of last season. The names of players, officials and fans that we have lost over the last year will be read out. There will be special memories of former chairman Barrie Hubbard and Albert Phelan’s portrait will be added to the Wall of Fame.

There will also be a section looking at the Battle of the Somme and the Footballers’ Battalion. This will allow us to remember the three former players who gave their lives during that battle one hundred years ago.

The café will be open for snacks and drinks, including wine and beer.

If there is anyone who has died in the last year who should be remembered because of their love for or links to the club then let us know via email: memorialgarden@chesterfield-fc.co.uk.
