Chesterfield featured in an article in the world-renowned French publication L'Equipe last month, in an edition focusing on English football. While much of the edition concentrated on the Premier League - and included insights from Richard Scudamore, Alan Pardew and David Ginola - there was also an article titled: "Travels to the Other English Football".
The feature looked at lower league football in England with a reporter sent to Norwich, Chesterfield and Oxford United to get a true flavour of the Football League.
For the article, reporter Rico Rizzatelli and his photographer were welcomed to the Proact Stadium last season, and pleasingly enough saw the Spireites beat Fleetwood Town 3-0 that afternoon.
During their visit the pair spoke with fans, French-speaking player Armand Gnanduillet and many of the people that make the football club tick on a matchday.
Digital media editor Iain Pearce gave more details of the unexpected cross-channel visit: "We do often get press requests from unusual places, but it was particularly surprising to get an email from such a famous source in France.
"We did our best to make them feel at home at the Proact when they visited, but it was still a bit of a surprise to see such a smart article appear in August. Without many fluent French speakers on the staff we went straight to Armand to translate - and he tells us that it's all complimentary.
"Last weekend for the Wigan match we had two German journalists come along to the match, so maybe word of the Spireites is now spreading across Europe!"
