Chesterfield have completed the permanent signing of former Aston Villa man Chris Herd, the 26-year-old signing a deal until January.
The deal includes the option to extend the player's deal at the Proact until the summer in January.
Herd did not sign in time to be eligible to play in tomorrow's match with Colchester United.
After signing for the Spireites, Herd sat down with PlayerHD to talk through his arrival at the Proact Stadium.
"The club got in touch with my representatives," he said. "I came down and things seemed to work for both parties and I was happy to get a deal tied up.
"I think it's a great opportunity here with this team, I think this team is very capable of gaining promotion to the Championship and I'm glad to be a part of it.
"The coaching staff seem very good and all the players seem to be on the ball and look a great team, I want to get back playing and play as many games as I can, help the club and push for promotion."
Manager Dean Saunders is excited to see what his new recruit can do when given the chance to impress in the first team.
"You can see from his career the pedigree that he's got and we'll be looking to get him into tip-top condition so that he's able to show that again.
"We've had him here for a couple of days and have been able to show him what we're about, we think he can add quality to our team and now he's got until January to show us how good of a player he is."
