Former Spireite Sam Clucas returned to the Proact on Saturday to see his old friends and team-mates during the international breaks.
Clucas signed from rivals Mansfield Town in August 2014 and was an integral part as the Spireites surged to the Sky Bet League 1 play-offs last season, playing in a number of positions and getting into double-figures for goals, before a seven-figure move to Hull City during the summer.
"I wouldn't be where I am now without Chesterfield," said Clucas at the Proact on Saturday. "I had a successful time during my season here and that's helped me get to where I am now with Hull.
"It is a bit weird to come back and see all the familiar faces. Not just the players but the people on the doors and the people who work behind the scenes, but it's been really great to come back and see how the team's getting on this season.
The 25-year-old has taken to life in the Championship like a duck to water, and he says that the jump to the second tier has been easier than anticipated.
"Adjusting to the Championship's not been that hard," he said. "The manager has shown faith in me and I've played in virtually every game, which has really boosted my confidence.
"We've got some great players and it brings your game on playing alongside internationals and players who have played in the Premier League.
"I'm just trying to keep learning and Chesterfield have been a big part in the development of my career."
