The Proact Stadium pitch is being relaid this weekend as the ground staff start to prepare the pitch ahead of another long campaign in 2015/16.
The old surface is currently being removed before being reseeded - with the turf needing to be ready and to its usual high quality for late-July and the first of the home pre-season friendlies.
With over 25 first team matches on the turf plus numerous other matches - from FA Youth Cup wins over Aston Villa to England under 17 internationals - the pitch was made to work hard last season.
After a weekend of Play on the Pitch matches allowed supporters to step out on their field of dreams, the last activity to take place on the surface was this week's half term Holiday Activities club of school children.
While the weather gave groundsman Antony Haywood plenty of work today over the winter, the high quality of the surface in late season and for the play-off semi-final with Preston North End was testament to his efforts with the surface.
While the images here show the centre stage of the Proact to be particularly brown at present, it will be back to its luscious green best in just a few weeks' time.
