After completing their League One programme at Bramall Lane on Sunday with a strong performance and a point, all eyes are now set on the play-offs and Preston North End.
Speaking to Spireites Player, Sunday's goalscorer Ian Evatt reflected on the impressive performance against the Blades and his first goal of the season.
He said: "I've been saying to the staff, I only score in the big games! It was great and about time really, it was a great cross from Daniel Jones and I managed to get on the end of it.
"It was a fantastic performance by us and I think we were unfortunate not to win the game."
After a frenetic day of live Sky Bet League 1 table changes, Preston North End - who had been in pole position for promotion before kick-off - missed out on the second automatic promotion spot to MK Dons after they lost at Colchester United.
The results set up a Spireites-Lilywhites play-off duel in the semi-final, a contest that will start at the Proact Stadium at 7:45pm on Thursday, before the second leg decides the tie at Deepdale on Sunday, kicking-off at 12:15pm.
Evatt looked forward to the play-off contest and gave his views on how the Preston squad might have felt after their Sunday disappointment: "It can't be nice, can it? They'll be on the bus and having a big, long, hard think about themselves.
"You have to say congratulations to MK Dons who managed to go up, but that means it'll be hard for Preston to pick themselves up. I know the Preston manager very well, he's a very good manager and they've got some very good big-name players that can turn up in big games and I've got no doubt that they'll turn up in the play-offs.
"If we play as we have been doing against Sheffield United then we've got a great chance."
