Spireites left back Dan Jones was back to his electrifying best in the weekend draw at Sheffield United, and whipped-in the delicious ball for Ian Evatt's second half leveller.
Finishing the season in sixth spot after winning League Two last year, Jones feels the Spireites squad has the tools to cause problems to anyone in the third tier.
He said: "With the players that we have we've got big game players and I think certain players do rise to the bar when these games come around.
"We're solid throughout so it will be an enjoyable game on Thursday and anything can happen when you get into the play-offs."
After a topsy-turvy day of League One action, Chesterfield discovered their play-off fate after the game on Sunday, with Preston North End now lying in wait over two matches in the semi-finals.
However, Jones says he and his teammates are ready for anyone: "We aren't actually fussed about playing anyone, I think teams will rather not play us because of the way we play: we play football but we can be direct as well. Teams will fear us more than we fear them.
"Preston have a good attack, obviously Joe Garner, Kevin Davies and Jermaine Beckford are good up front, but we're good at the back. We've got good experience and we've got pace on either side so we'll play our game, be patient and try and open them up.
"I really am looking forward to it, I can't wait."
