Having impressed with his speed and directness in his recent break into the first team, winger Gboly Ariyibi has signed a contract extension to stay at the Proact.
With his current deal due to expire in the summer, Ariyibi has now penned an extension to keep him with the Spireites until the summer of 2017, something he's happy to have sorted.
"I'm delighted," said Ariyibi. "I've been patient and waited to get my chance and it looks like I've taken it so I'm happy to push on from here.
"I was waiting for my chance and probably getting a bit annoyed when it wasn't coming, but what you've got to do is keep working hard in training and showing that you're capable of doing well and playing in the side."
With time running out on his first deal with the Spireites, Ariyibi was understandably keen to get his future sorted but was surprised to get the opportunity to sign the contract so quickly.
He said: "It was coming towards the end of the season so of course I wanted to know what was going on, but I didn't expect it. I just kept on playing and the gaffer's seemed to trust me a bit more so that gave me confidence.
"It's a good club and we play good football with nice players and I think I can progress here."
Reflecting on his first season at the Proact, Ariyibi feels he's progressed well and is doing what he can to force his way further into the first team plans.
"I would say I've adapted pretty well, coming in I was a bit different to the players the manager's got and he said that to me. I'm quite dynamic and different to what he usually has so it's been good to try and adapt and get used to the players.
"I didn't think the opportunities would come so soon but I've been thrown in and I think I've done well since I've been playing.
"I don't like to set goals but obviously I want to play at the highest level - that should be every footballer's dream - so now I need to finish off this season well and from pre-season in July start from there."
