Popular former Chesterfield striker Bob Newton has rejoined the club after being signed-up to become the matchday host in the new DCJ Group Spires Restaurant.
Bob, who scored 29 goals in 78 appearances for his hometown club in the 1980s, will keep guests entertained, giving his thoughts on the game and speaking to the Man of the Match afterwards. He will also host a pre-match quiz with some great prizes up for grabs.
After taking on the role, Bob said: "I'm delighted to be returning to the club in a new capacity. I like meeting fans and chatting to them about the game so this role suits me down to the ground.
"This club means everything to me. When it nearly went out of business, I did everything I did to help out. It is now a club going forward and it's great to have been asked to be involved. With a new manager in place, it's the start of an exciting new era and I can't wait for the new season."
The club’s head of commercial & marketing, Kevin Fitzgerald, said: “We are making changes to our matchday hospitality offering, not only to help the club move forward but to enhance everyone’s match day experience and we are very happy that Bob has agreed to be part of those changes.
“Bob is an outgoing character who is ideally suited to the role of matchday host. It is great to have a Spireites legend on board for every home game.”
