Chesterfield have been drawn to play Carlisle United in the first round of this season's Capital One Cup.

The tie will be played during the week commencing August 10, with the cup fixture coming within a few days of the Sky Bet League 1 season opener.

Due to their strong season in their last campaign, Chesterfield were placed among the seeded teams for the draw, that took place today at 10am, to be matched up with one of the 36 unseeded teams.

Last season the Spireites were drawn with Huddersfield Town at the same stage and lost a Proact Stadium thriller 5-3 after extra time, with Ritchie Humphreys, Ollie Banks and Eoin Doyle netting the Chesterfield goals.
