Chesterfield's youth team will play their home games at Staveley Miners Welfare's Inkersall Road ground this season.

Staveley Miners Welfare chairman Terry Damms issued an invitation to host the matches and Spireites academy manager Mark Smith was delighted to accept the offer.

Smith said: "It is a nice stadium with good facilities, so it will have the feel of a proper game, which will benefit our youngsters. It is the kind of positive environment we want to go into and we can't wait for it to start. I'd like to thank Terry for his help in arranging this, which is much appreciated."

Damms believes the developing relationship between Chesterfield and Staveley Miners Welfare is a positive step for all concerned. He said: "I'm delighted to have the academy here. It is good for both clubs and also for the community.

"When Chesterfield are away, their fans come and support us with their Spireites shirts on and mix with our supporters, creating a really good atmosphere. We will do as much as we can to help Chesterfield and their supporters, who help us by putting revenue behind the bar and the cafeteria. It's all very positive and I'm really pleased."

Details of the youth team's fixtures will be announced in due course.

The link-up further strengthens the ties between the two clubs, with Staveley also hosting Chesterfield shadow squad's home fixtures this term.
