Following an appeal from the club, a group of fans turned out to help clear the pitch of snow in readiness for Saturday's game at home to Doncaster Rovers.
Snow was left on the pitch on Thursday to act as insulation until the decision was taken to clear it at the appropriate time.
Barring adverse overnight weather conditions, the match is expected to go ahead.
Chief executive Chris Turner thanked those who turned out to help with the pitch clearance. He said: "We are very grateful for the invaluable help we received on Friday afternoon. It was a tremendous effort from all concerned.
"It is a big game against Doncaster and we are desperate to try and ensure that the match goes ahead. As a gesture of goodwill, we have given free tickets for the match to the volunteers."
Doncaster have sold-out their allocation of tickets for the match.
