26 February 2015

As we reach the end of another module we are delighted to announce the stars of the module from their respective groups.

This is a mark of the players' development, attitude and application in the past six weeks.

Under 9s
Harry Clark. Harry has developed better game understanding when building attacks and playing through the thirds. He has shown good recognition of passing priorities based on seeing various patterns of play. Over the module Harry has expressed himself in and out of possession and shown himself to be a leader of the group.

Under 10s
Archie White. Excellent in both training and in games, Archie has showed a good understanding of his responsibilities when receiving from the goalkeeper and in playing forward through the thirds. Archie has a fantastic ability to pass the ball between units of players with accuracy and confidence, and is often responsible for initiating counter attacks and creating goal scoring opportunities for the team. Archie was one of the key team members when playing against Doncaster Rovers, with an outstanding performance showing real bravery and intelligence going forward with the ball, resulting in a comfortable win for his side.

Under 11s
Sam Pipes. Sam has played with a sense of maturity and confidence in this latest module. He has taken on board the key elements, put them into practice and used his technical ability to help those around him. Where Sam has really stood out this module is in picking when to use his technical abilities and when to move the ball quickly, leading to a higher rate of efficiency in his game. Sam has added regular goal scoring to his game this module and in my opinion this is through understanding and making good decisions on passing priorities and being positive in and out of possession to try combinations in and around the penalty area.

Under 12s
Tom Wood. He has improved his work rate, approach and attitude to learn. He has also demonstrated some excellent shooting and finishing techniques and has been keen to do his best.

Under 13s
Tom Ward. Tom has excelled within the current module and his performances within games has been outstanding. Tom is a credit to the academy, he works hard, stays focused and his desire to improve knows no boundaries. These are just some of the attributes needed to succeed in academy life and Tom has these in abundance.

Under 14s
Albie White. Great attitude and positive performances during training and matches. Albie consistently displays good technical ability and excellent distribution, enabling the midfielders and forward players to create opportunities through the middle and final thirds.

Under 15s

Harry Dunkerley-Webster. Harry's enthusiasm and attitude to practice has been excellent. He has recently signed for the academy and has shown the kind of attributes required to succeed in our environment. His understanding of what we have been working on has been very impressive.

Under 16s
Joe Rowley. Joe has been in fantastic form during the past six weeks. The consistency he has shown allied with the skill and confidence he portrays has been excellent. He has shown a great understanding of his role and what is expected of him. He has shown a great talent for scoring headed goals. I hope to see even greater improvements in the coming months.
