Tribute to Former Chairman on Saturday

16 December 2015

There will be a minute's applause before Saturday's game at home to Bradford City to celebrate the life of the club's former chairman Barrie Hubbard, who passed away last weekend.

The decision has been taken following consultation with Barrie's family.

Barrie, who was 76, became the club's life president after his second spell as chairman came to an end three-and-a-half years ago.

The lifelong Spireite is also the subject of a two-page tribute, written by club historian Stuart Basson, in the Spire Writes matchday programme. John Croot, who served on the board alongside Barrie for many years, also pays tribute to him in the 'Club Matters' column.
