Flying Spireites winger Gboly Ariyibi has received international recognition again after being called-up for the USA under 23s squad. What's more, Ariyibi - who was born in the States and has previously played for the USA under 20s side - will have the chance to impress against England under 21s as the two sides square up next week at Deepdale, Preston, on Thursday, September 3.
The international friendly will mean that the 20-year-old will miss Chesterfield's match with Wigan Athletic at the Proact next Saturday.
Ariyibi went through how he found out the news: "I was having a nap on Thursday afternoon and I got a call from my agent and he told me about the good news. I was more than happy to hear about it, I'm delighted.
"It was a big surprise to get the call-up. Recently I've been playing really hard to get in the team and trying to perform and produce on a consistent basis. I've also been training hard, and when you work hard sometimes you get things that you don't expect."
The attacker is especially excited to have the chance to take on the three lions, but for now is gearing all of his energies towards the Spireites and their weekend test against some other Lions, those from Millwall.
"I think I'm going to see a few faces I'll recognise for England, it'll be great to see them, but for now I'm just focused on tomorrow and the game with Millwall."
