Gary Roberts bookended a thrilling 6-0 win over Colchester United on Tuesday with two goals to start and finish the game, and he's looking forward to the coming match weekend.
Roberts opened the scoring with a crisp right-footed volley before being fouled to earn and then score a penalty with five minutes of the match remaining.
After the match Roberts told Spireites Player his side's game plan coming into what was always going to be a vital evening's work.
He said: "We knew that they'd travelled up on the day so it was a bit of the game plan to come out the blocks fast. They had a tough game with Coventry on Saturday and come here so we wanted to put them on the back foot.
"I think it was eight or nine minutes when I got the goal and you could see the heads dropped and we dominated the game from there on in.
"We scored some great goals today, even Jimmy Ryan with a dink. Clucas has played up top and wherever he's played this season he's been fantastic with his work rate and you can just see that bit of class he has when he comes one-on-one with the 'keeper."
The win moves the Spireites seven points clear in the play-off race, with Rochdale behind them but still with a game in hand.
However, Roberts assured fans that the team will still be out and gunning for a win at Oldham on Saturday, regardless of what their rivals are doing elsewhere.
"I think even if Rochdale win we still will," he said. "We go to Oldham to be positive and to try and win the game. On the back of the Colchester game I think we go there in good spirits.
"Bristol City have been promoted, so they're going to come here wanting to win and wanting to win the league and I think it'll be a good game."
