The Spireites can have their play-off place confirmed if Rochdale fail to beat Leyton Orient tonight, but either way midfielder Sam Morsy is looking forward.
Morsy captained the side in the 0-0 weekend draw at Oldham Athletic, and despite the challenging conditions, he told Spireites Player that he saw the result in a positive light.
"It was a really bad pitch but the lads battled in well today," he said. "We've been guilty of it before, if you can't win a game you've just got to take a point.
"We had a few chances at the end, we were always confident that we would, and we never look like conceding as well.
"It keeps the momentum going and keeps everyone happy. It didn't quite happen for our forward-thinking players today, it's tough for them to produce every week, but it's a great point on the board in my opinion."
The result leaves Rochdale eight points behind the Spirietes, the Dale having three games remaining and needing to win them all to have a chance of catching Chesterfield.
"We're just focusing in on ourselves," said Morsy. "When you're in there it's up to you to stay in there. Rochdale have had a disappointing run and we've had a really strong run, so we've just got to keep our momentum going and not worry about anyone else.
"It could be over by next Saturday, but if if not we'll do our best to beat Bristol City.
"There's a little bit of disappointment in the dressing room, but that just shows how far we've come as a club. Even Barcelona had a hiccup - drawing 2-2 with Sevilla from two goals up - we can't win every game but we take the point and take another clean sheet."
