Hat-trick hero Eoin Doyle praised the performance of his team-mates as Chesterfield came back from three nil down at Preston to snatch a late point.Preston raced into an early three goal lead but Doyle’s second hat-trick in four games completed a memorable comeback for the Spireites.
The striker said: “We showed great character towards the end. We had a manic ten or 15 minutes at the start of the game, and then from 20 minutes on we dominated the game. We penetrated them when we were on top.
“They could have tried to see it out but the goal gave us a bit of confidence before half-time, and second-half we showed them what a good team we are.”
Doyle’s goals have been key for Paul Cook’s side lately, but the Irishman insists that the Spireites need to begin Saturday’s fixture with Doncaster on the front foot.
He said: “In the last two games we have needed to concede goals to give us the little kick that we needed, so hopefully on Saturday we can start as we finished tonight.
"Saturday is a big game for us so if we play as we finished tonight, hopefully we will get the three points.”
Doyle is the current top goal-scorer in League 1 following his back-to-back hat-tricks, and the forward paid homage to his team-mates in making that happen.
Doyle said: “The service I have been getting has been spot-on and everyone knows what runs I’m making, but thankfully the shots have been going in.
"I’ve never scored consecutive hat-tricks before, although I have scored one in Ireland previous to Saturday.”
