The Spireites have signed Austrian defender Georg Margreitter from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a three-month loan. The 25-year-old centre-back, who joined Wolves from Austria Vienna two years ago, spent last season on loan at Danish club FC Copenhagen.
Manager Paul Cook has brought in Margreitter to provide central defensive cover following the sale of Liam Cooper and injury to Sam Hird.
"I am delighted to have been able to sign Georg because we needed someone else in after losing Liam Cooper and Sam Hird," said Cook. "Georg's career in English football has never really got going, for one reason or another, but he had successful spells in Austria and Denmark and we believe he'll be a useful addition to the squad."
Margreitter is due to stay at the Proact Stadium until December 13, although Wolves will be able to invoke a 24-hour recall clause after 28 days.
Subject to the relevant paperwork being processed in time, Margreitter will be available for selection this weekend. He will wear the number 29 shirt.
