The Chesterfield youth team travel to Hull City in their latest league fixture.
After going a weekend without a match Mark Smith reflected on a busy week with training and practice matches.
He said: "We had a game against St Kevins FC from Ireland who have been on a short two-game break. They played Coventry on Tuesday, and then played us on the Thursday.
"They beat Coventry 1-0 but we managed to beat them 5-1 so the boys did well. It was a game for our lads where we could actually mix it up and put a few of the lads in who are not featuring as much at the moment, but although it was a little close to the game on Saturday, we were able to get two teams out of it."
The youth team also played a match against the development team to keep things sharp.
Smith said: "We played an inter-house game on Tuesday against Liam Sutcliffe’s development group where we could mix and match, and again that was useful."
However, Smith is now focused and looking forward to the trip to Hull.
He said: "The last couple of days we have been concentrating on Hull City, which will be an interesting game as we will get to see how far we have come."
