Chesterfield have signed Huddersfield Town midfielder Oscar Gobern on loan for a month.
Spireites boss Paul Cook explained the thinking behind the decision to recruit Gobern. He said: "Daniel Johnson is returning to Aston Villa after the Yeovil match so it's important we have options available within the squad.
"It is important that we have the right balance in the team as I have felt that the balance has not been correct in the last couple of weeks. The likelihood is that there will be further activity in the transfer market in the coming weeks."
Gobern, 23, began his career at Southampton and made 21 appearances for the Saints before joining Huddersfield in the summer of 2011. The former England Under-19 international has made over 50 appearances for the West Yorkshire club.
Gobern is keen to play again following an injury-hit season. He said: "I've been pretty much injured since pre-season so I need some game time.
"I'm very familiar with Chesterfield having played against them a few times. I'm quite physical but I also like to get on the ball when we attack."
Gobern's loan ends on November 19 and he will wear the number six shirt.
