Here are the midweek odds from Sky Bet ahead of a busy Tuesday night of action in League One.
Barnsley v Notts County
Barnsley are 23/10 favourites to topple Notts County ahead of their Sky Bet League 1 clash at Oakwell. The Tykes were in top form to defeat Bradford City 3-1 in their last home game and it is 21/10 that they secure another home success in a match with over 2.5 goals. Home striker Sam Winnall is 5/1 favourite to score the opening goal and 21/10 to inspire victory with a goal. County warmed up with a 5-3 romp against Crawley Town with Garry Thompson bagging a hat-trick. The experienced frontman is 13/2 to score the opening goal and 2/1 to score anytime. Five of the visitors’ 12 games have ended in draws, including three on the road where they are also unbeaten. They are 21/10 to bolster their play-off hopes with a victory and it is 12/5 that they earn another point.
Top Tip: Over 2.5 goals at 4/5.
Bristol City v Bradford City
Runaway Sky Bet League 1 leaders Bristol City are odds-on favourites to keep the momentum going with victory over mid-table Bradford City at Ashton Gate. Aaron Wilbraham is joint-second in the division’s top goalscorers chart with eight so far and will fancy his chances of adding to his tally. He is 10/11 to score anytime and 7/2 to score the opening goal. Bradford have lost their last two including their only defeat on the road at Barnsley and Phil Parkinson’s men are 4/1 to shock the leaders with a victory and 14/5 to earn a point. The Bantams’ top scorer James Hanson made his return from a six-match injury absence in the 2-0 defeat by Sheffield United, and is 7/1 to score the opening goal and 13/2 to score in an away win.
Top Tip: Under 2.5 goals 10/11
Colchester United v Chesterfield
Colchester are 17/10 to improve on their disappointing home form with victory over Chesterfield in Sky Bet League 1. The U’s have won just one of their six league games at the Community Stadium but that came in their last home match against Fleetwood and hopes will be high after a hard-earned draw at Scunthorpe on Saturday. Freddie Sears made it six goals for the season on Saturday and he is 5/1 favourite in home ranks to score the opening goal of the game. Chesterfield’s form has slipped of late with just one win in the last six but they have shown enough overall this season to be installed as 6/4 favourites here with the draw on offer at 23/10. The league’s top goalscorer Eoin Doyle will again be a massive threat for the visitors and he is even-money to further add to his impressive tally of 14 in 12 league games.
Top Tip: Freddie Sears and Eoin Doyle both to score at 9/2
Crawley Town v Walsall
Crawley have been installed as 6/4 favourites as they and visitors Walsall both look to bounce back from setbacks in Sky Bet League 1. Town went down 5-3 at Notts County to make it nine goals conceded in their last two games but the Saddlers have also lost their last two and are 13/8 to pick up what would be their first victory on the road this season. The draw can be backed at 23/10. Izale McLeod is Crawley’s top marksman so far with five and the much-travelled striker is 9/2 favourite to score the opening goal of the game and 21/10 to score in a home win. Tom Bradshaw also has five goals in nine games for Walsall this season and is 13/2 to score the opening goal of the game and 100/30 to score in a home win.
Top Tip: Over 3.5 goals at 11/4
Crewe Alexandra v Peterborough United
Peterborough travel to Crewe as odds-on favourites for three points but the hosts are also looking for a third win on the bounce. Posh are 5/6 for a ninth Sky Bet League 1 win of the season, with Crewe rated 14/5 for only their fourth, though they’d surely take a draw and that’s on offer at 13/5. Alex need to win to get off the foot of the table and each of their three league victories this term have come via a one-goal winning margin – that trend is 11/2 to continue on Tuesday. Both teams have scored in each of Peterborough’s last three outings, and that’s expected once again at 4/7, while Crewe are 11/8 to find the net first.
Top tip: Over 2.5 goals at 4/6
Doncaster Rovers v Leyton Orient
Leyton Orient will leapfrog Doncaster if they can win at the Keepmoat on Tuesday, but the hosts are favourites with League sponsor Sky Bet. Donny are 6/4 to take all three points, with the O’s rated 13/8, while a draw is 12/5. However, Doncaster’s home form has been poor in League 1 so far this term, with just one win in five games, averaging just a goal a game. They’re 100/30 to win by exactly one goal or 15/2 to win 1-0. In contrast, Orient are unbeaten away from home, with two wins and four draws, and they’re 1/2 to avoid defeat once again in the double chance market.
Top tip: Under 2.5 goals at 5/6
Gillingham v Preston North End
Preston are odds-on for a third away win of the season as they travel to Gillingham on Tuesday night. The Sky Bet League 1 promotion hopefuls are 17/10 for three points at Priestfield, with the hosts rated 14/5 to win, though a draw is deemed more likely at 13/5. Indeed, the two teams’ form could not be more contrasting, with Preston seeking a fifth consecutive win, while the Gills are without one in their last five league games. However, Gillingham appear much stronger at home, with only one of their six defeats coming on their own patch, and they can be backed to win with a +1 start at 5/6.
Top tip: 1-1, 2-2 or 3-3 draw at 7/2
MK Dons v Fleetwood Town
Just one point separates these sides in the League 1 table, but Football League sponsor Sky Bet expect MK Dons to beat Fleetwood on Tuesday. The hosts are 4/5 for all three points, with Fleetwood available at 16/5 to win and 5/2 to draw. On average, The Dons have conceded one goal per game at home this season, and the visitors are 11/8 to score exactly that, while a 2-1 win for the favourites is on offer at 15/2. With MK Dons having drawn only one home game and Fleetwood registering no draws on the road as yet this season, the 2/7 on either team to could be a banker for your accumulators.
Top tip: MK Dons or Fleetwood to win at 2/7
Oldham Athletic v Coventry City
Oldham are worthy even-money favourites ahead of their clash with 5/2 shots Coventry. The Latics are unbeaten in their last nine Sky Bet League 1 matches but have drawn five of those. Their home form however has been good with only one defeat at Boundary Park. In contrast, Coventry are still winless on the road, claiming only two points from a possible 18, and have lost five of their last six. The Sky Blues do however have a decent record at the Lancashire ground in recent meetings and claimed a point in a goalless draw back in April - a 9/1 shot this time around. Oldham secured a good point at Chesterfield on Saturday courtesy of Jonathan Forte's eighth goal of the season and the striker is a 4/1 shot to break the deadlock and 6/4 to net in a home win. Josh McQuoid is 12/5 to net anytime for the visitors.
Top tip: Oldham to win and both teams to score at 3/1
Port Vale v Scunthorpe United
Two sides battling at the wrong end of Sky Bet League 1 meet at Vale Park on Tuesday. Port Vale, 22nd in the table, are the League sponsor’s 21/20 favourites while Scunthorpe, one place and one point below Vale, are 23/10 and the draw is a 5/2 shot. Vale suffered a 2-0 defeat at Preston on Saturday and have won one of their last three league matches. The Iron, meanwhile, look to have turned a corner since the arrival of new boss Mark Robins, winning one and drawing the other since the former Huddersfield and Barnsley boss took the helm. Interestingly, the hosts have failed to net in any of their last four matches against Scunthorpe in all competitions, a 100/30 shot this time. Vale's leading scorer Tom Pope is favourite to break the deadlock at 9/2 and is a 15/8 shot to score in a home win, while Paddy Madden heads the market for the visitors at 7/4 to score in 90 minutes.
Top tip: The draw at 5/2
Sheffield Utd v Yeovil Town
Sheffield United are odds-on shots to maintain their promotion challenge with victory over 7/2 shots Yeovil in the Sky Bet League 1 on Tuesday. The Blades, who are seventh in the table six points off second place Peterborough, have lost only one of their five league matches at Bramall Lane and impressed in their 2-0 victory over Bradford on Saturday. Yeovil ended a three match losing sequence by claiming a point in a 1-1 draw with Swindon and have struggled for goals this term, scoring only 12 in their 13 matches. Yeovil won the last league meeting between the sides in south Yorkshire 2-0 and it's a 25/1 shot this time. Mark McNulty, who netted for the Blades in the 2-0 win at Valley Parade, is 6/4 to net in 90 minutes and 15/8 to score in a home win. James Hayter is the pick of the Yeovil attack and is 7/1 to score the opener.
Top Tip: Sheffield United to win and under 2.5 goals in the match at 11/4
Swindon Town v Rochdale
Odds-on shots Swindon will be looking to maintain their excellent form in Sky Bet League 1 with victory over Rochdale (11/4). The Robins are third in the title race having suffered only one defeat in their opening 11 league matches. They are also unbeaten at the County Ground this term and have a great record against Dale at home and have never lost at home in the league to the Lancashire outfit. Dale, however, are certain to be no pushovers having won three and drawn one of their last five league matches. Both sides drew 1-1 on Saturday and a repeat of that outcome is an 11/2 shot with the League sponsor. Swindon's top scorer Andy Williams is 11/8 to net in a home win, while Ian Henderson can be backed at 11/2 to net in an away win. With 43 goals between the sides one thing fans can expect is plenty of action so going over on goals looks a wise bet - over 2.5 is a 4/5 shot and over 3.5 2/1.
Top Tip: Swindon to win and over 2.5 goals at 15/8
