Well-known Spireite Jeff Hall marked last week's Older People’s Day with an exercise session in the Hub.
Jeff joined the usual Senior Spireites in the session at the Hub, where the group meet every Wednesday and go through some light exercises.
As well as joining in with the group for the special occasion, Jeff also spoke of how interesting his first experience of the session was.
He said: “It was very, very interesting. It's the first time I have come to it, and I am hoping to be coming back when I have time.
"I have to go out collecting Spire Lotto money Monday to Thursday, but when I am available I will come back and join in.
“People who are out there on their own, for the sake of an hour, they will really enjoy coming here.”
The session is held every Wednesday from 10:30am to 12pm in the Hub, and group coordinator Tina Hensey explained that anybody is welcome.
Tina said: “Anybody that wants to can just turn up. It costs just £3 a week and that includes refreshments as well as the exercise. If you are happy to you can do the bits that you enjoy, and then leave out the bits that you’d like to.
“We usually have some Christmas celebrations and various other days, so it just gives people something to look forward to in the week. The members come along for as much of the social side as well as the exercise.”
Maureen Kayser is a regular at the session, and she expresses how enjoyable it is to have other people around you.
She said: “It is a way of trying to lose weight and it is lovely. It does help and you do notice your muscles when you have been, but it is lovely to come and have the company.”
