Daniel Johnson's loan period with Chesterfield came to an end on Saturday and the Aston Villa man made a final substitute appearance in the match with Yeovil Town.Johnson picked up the player of the month award before the match but was unable to grab his side a win as the Spireites drew 0-0 at the Proact.
"I've really loved it- all the staff, all the fans, everyone. They've done well for me so I'd just like to thank them for the time that I've been here. They've looked after me really well so I've enjoyed it.
"I thought I've done well, it took a while for me to get into the team and then I stayed in the team for a while and I thought I was all right."
Johnson quickly struck up an understanding with Spireites striker Eoin Doyle, and Johnson discussed this partnership as well as the possibility of him returning to the Proact later in the season.
"Eoin's a good player, but it wasn't just me it was the whole team, we've all helped each other.
"Hopefully they can kick on, you never know I might be back in January, we'll see. It's definitely a good club and I'd love to come back. We don't know what happens from now on so we'll see what happens."
Despite the accolades Johnson didn't manage to find the net for the Spireites, though he would have loved to against his Aston Villa team mate Jed Steer, on loan with Yeovil.
Johnson said: "It's the second time I've played against Jed since I've been here, but Jed's a brilliant 'keeper. it would have been good if I could have scored, I didn't but it was good to get a point today."
The player of the month award came as a surprise to the 22 year-old, and Johnson says it wouldn't have been possible without the fans and his Spireites team mates.
He said: "I didn't expect it today, but it's good to pick up awards like this. It just shows the effort that you are putting in.
"Without the boys and the staff I wouldn't have been able to pick this up so I'd like to thank them for this.
"I'd like to say thanks to the fans here as well because they've really appreciated me here."
