Chesterfield have secured the services of Sam Hird and Charlie Dawes who both sign contracts at the Proact Stadium.Hird's previous contract expired at the end of the 2013/14 campaign but the defender's new two-year deal will keep him at Chesterfield until the end of the 2015/16 season.
The 26-year-old made 44 appearances in all competitions during the Spireites' League 2 title-winning season and Hird explained his delight at extending his stay at the Proact Stadium.
He said: “Obviously I’m really happy, I’m delighted to be quite honest. We had a great season last season and I think it’s a club going in the right direction. I had no hesitation in resigning.
"I'm here today because of my own hard work. You've got to believe in yourself - I believe in my own ability and I'd like another successful season with Chesterfield."
In addition, Chesterfield-born youngster Dawes joins the Spireites as part of a one-year deal that will keep him at the Proact Stadium until the end of the 2014/15 season.
Speaking to Spireites Player, the former Sheffield Wednesday striker said: "It's brilliant, my first professional contract and it's with my local team so I'm very happy.
"The players are brilliant, the stadium's brilliant and I get on with all the staff really well so it's good to be here"
