Chesterfield will host Morecambe at the Proact Stadium on Tuesday evening in their 40th fixture of the 2013/14 League 2 campaign.
Paul Cook's side approach Tuesday's game on the back of a 0-0 draw with local rivals Mansfield Town on Saturday afternoon. The sides played out the goalless encounter at a cold and blustery One Call Stadium, Chesterfield and Mansfield both had opportunities but neither could capitalise meaning both took home a share of the points.
With promotion rivals Rochdale and Scunthorpe United both picking up three points in their respective fixtures, the draw meant Chesterfield slipped to third place in the Sky Bet League 2 table.
Having won just one of their last six games, the Spireites have struggled to find form of late and will be looking to get their promotion push back on track against the Shrimps on Tuesday night.
Morecambe come to the Proact Stadium in indifferent form: Winning two, drawing two and losing two of their last six games, drawing 1-1 with Northampton Town in their last outing at the Globe Arena.
Jim Bentley's side are currently 14th in the League 2 table having taken 48 points from 38 games, eight points short of the League 2 play-off places.
These sides face each other for the second time in the league this season after Morecambe prevailed 4-3 in their October meeting. The Spireites took a three goal lead going into half time through strikes from Eoin Doyle and Gary McSheffrey before conceding four in the second half condemning Chesterfield to their second league defeat of the season.
Victory for Chesterfield on Tuesday could see them make a return to the top of the Sky Bet League 2 table depending on results elsewhere.
Last Time We Met
Paul Cook has a full squad to choose from heading into Tuesday's game as Dan Gardner and Drew Talbot have both made full recoveries from the injuries that have kept them out of action for a number of weeks.
In the manager's pre match conference, Cook confirmed that Mason Bennett will start for the Spireites against Morecambe after impressing since his arrival from Derby County on loan.
"We have done well against Chesterfield over the years but every game is different."
"I am sure they will be looking to get revenge for their defeat at the Globe Arena earlier in the season when we beat them 4-3 after being 3-0 down in a superb game."
Chesterfield: 8/15 Draw: 14/5 Morecambe: 5/1
