Chesterfield will host Portsmouth at the Proact Stadium on Monday evening in their 34th fixture of the 2013/14 League 2 campaign.
Paul Cook's side approach Monday's game on the back of an emphatic 4-1 win over Cheltenham Town last week, four goals in seven minutes from Dan Gardner, Eoin Doyle, Ollie Banks and Liam Cooper all but sealed the victory in the first half at the Abbey Business Stadium on Tuesday.
The win meant Chesterfield maintained pole position in Sky Bet League 2 and with teams below failing to pick up points over the weekend, the Spireites could extend their lead to four points with victory over Portsmouth on Monday night.
Pompey come to the Proact Stadium in indifferent form, taking 13 points from their last ten league games - defeating Accrington Stanley 1-0 in their last outing at Fratton Park on Tuesday night.
Richie Barker's side are currently 19th in the League 2 table with just six points between them and the League 2 relegation zone. Relegation to the Skrill Premier League at the end of the 2013/14 season would be Portsmouth's third drop in as many years.
Chesterfield and Portsmouth meet for the second time this season after the Spireites prevailed 2-0 in the reverse fixture at Fratton Park. Goals from Armand Gnanduillet and Tendayi Darikwa sealed all three points for the Spireites in the sides' August encounter.
Drew Talbot is still suffering from the abductor injury that has kept him out of action for recent weeks and will not feature against Portsmouth on Monday.
