Chesterfield right back Drew Talbot has suffered a further setback in his recovery from injury.
The 27-year-old played in the recent pre-season friendly at Matlock Town but has since had a recurrence of the pubic bone injury that kept him out for spells during last season.
The injury is set to keep Talbot out for up to six weeks, meaning he will likely miss the start of the new Sky Bet League 1 season.
The defender tweeted: "So bad news it is! No time to sulk and feel sorry for myself, I'll be working harder than ever, if that's possible, to get myself back fit!"
Rodger Wylde, Head of Sports Science and Medicine, was on hand to explain the extent of Talbot's latest setback.
He said: "This injury is a manifestation of problems in the groin area over the last 18 months. They've unravelled each problem one-by-one and now hopefully this will be the last piece of the jigsaw in the road to recovery."
