The Chesterfield youth team went down to a 2-1 defeat at Hartlepool United on Saturday.Jake Beesley gave the young Spireites a first-half lead but two goals after the break gave the hosts victory.
Beesley scored midway through the half after Mason Coy got behind the full-back and rolled the ball back to Alex Hewitt who crossed for the striker to find the net with a looping header.
The Spireites had chances on the break in the second half which fell to Beesley and Fabian Johnson but they were undone by two goals in the latter stages of the game.
Commenting on the game, youth team coach Mark Smith said: "We were well on top after starting the game really well and causing them problems, but we couldn't quite keep it up in the second half.
"I could see their equalising goal coming because once we concede a goal, we look vulnerable and have a tendency to concede another."
