Chesterfield Host the Gas

31 January 2014

Chesterfield will host Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon in their 29th fixture of the 2013/14 League 2 campaign.

Overview

The Spireites approach Saturday's game following back-to-back away wins at Northampton Town and York City, defeating the Minstermen 2-0 in their last league outing at Bootham Crescent on Tuesday night.

The victory meant Chesterfield returned to the top of the Sky Bet League 2 table, climbing above Scunthorpe United who dropped two points at home in a 0-0 draw with Fleetwood Town one day previous.

Bristol Rovers come to the Proact Stadium in indifferent form, taking eight points from their last six league games and losing 1-0 at home to Accrington Stanley in their most recent fixture at the Memorial Stadium.

The Gas are currently four points above the relegation places with two teams below them possessing a game in hand. John Ward's side will be looking to cause an upset at the Proact Stadium on Saturday to pull clear of the drop-zone.

Chesterfield and Bristol Rovers meet for the second time this season after the sides shared a goalless draw at the Memorial Stadium in late October. Rovers last visited the Spireites in March 2013, where Paul Cook's side prevailed 2-0 through goals from Jay O'Shea and Armand Gnanduillet.

Team News

Chesterfield
Having fully recovered from the injury he picked up against Chesterfield's 2-2 draw with Rochdale, Drew Talbot is available for Saturday's game.

Bristol Rovers
Elliot Richards (hamstring) and Danny Woodards (hamstring) both look unlikely to feature against the Spireites as a result of their respective injuries.
