An appeal has gone out for cyclists to represent Chesterfield FC in the London to Amsterdam Football League Challenge this summer.Starting on Friday, June 6 and ending the following Monday, the challenge will involve cycling around 150 miles over two days.
Under the leadership of a 'club captain', the team will raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
After cycling through the Essex countryside and boarding an overnight ferry from Harwich, those taking part will then follow the coastline on cycle paths from the Hook of Holland to Amsterdam, with their journey concluding at AFC Ajax.
Following a celebratory meal, there will be a free morning on Sunday to explore Amsterdam before catching the train to Brussels for the Eurostar to London St Pancras.
There is no registration fee for the club captain, who will be given a £1,200 sponsorship target. Others taking part will pay a £149 registration fee with a sponsorship target of £1,000.
Included is the ferry crossing, return train travel to London, all meals (excluding lunch and dinner on Sunday) and accommodation on Friday and Saturday, together with return transfer of bikes to London St Pancras.
