Eoin Doyle spoke to Spireites Player after Chesterfield’s 3-2 Boxing Day win against Peterborough United in front of a packed Proact Stadium.

The Irishman scored twice, notching his 20th goal of the season with the first and his 30th goal of the calendar year with his second. He said: “I’m over the moon to reach 30 goals this year and it was even better to get the three points today. “The first was great work down the right from Tendayi Darikwa and I managed to put it in the back of the net. With the second one it was great work from Romy Boco and I felt someone behind me so I thought I’d have a go and thankfully it went in.” The Spireites looked comfortable with a three goal lead but Peterborough fought back to set up a tense finish to the game, with the home side holding on to make it back-to-back league wins. Doyle said: “We could have won 5-0 and in the end we gave two goals away but we had plenty of chances. “We were comfortable until the last few minutes of the game and we were rightful winners. We were hungry for it this week after holding onto 3-2 at Gillingham. “It’s great to get back-to-back wins at this time of year. There’s a great team spirit and hunger to go out and win and hopefully we can go into the Coventry game and get another result.” Armand Gnanduillet also got on the score sheet, netting his second goal in four games. Doyle said: “I’m delighted for the big man to get another this month. He’s scored a great goal in the cup and another one today, keeping it nice and low.”
