Chesterfield have completed a double signing on the eve of the big kick-off, bringing in Aston Villa's Daniel Johnson on loan and securing Romuald Boco on a non-contract basis.Midfielder Johnson, 21, has arrived on a three-month loan and will be at the club upto and including November 8. Villa have the option of recalling the player at 24 hours' notice after 28 days.
Boco, who was a free agent after leaving Plymouth Argyle at the end of last season, played under Paul Cook at Sligo Rovers and Accrington Stanley. The 29-year-old midfielder is a Benin international.
Cook said: "Johnson is a central midfielder who will compete with Jimmy Ryan and Sam Morsy for a place. He's very good on the ball and we thank Aston Villa for helping us with the loan deal.
"I know all about Boco after working with him before and he has been training with us in pre-season. He will be a very useful addition to the squad."
Both players are eligible to play in the opening game of the season at Leyton Orient.
Boco has been handed the number 18 shirt, while Johnson will wear the number 26.
