Speaking to Spireites Player after watching his Chesterfield side suffer a heartbreaking 5-3 extra time loss to Huddersfield Town, manager Paul Cook reflected on the night's Capital One Cup action.

Cook said: "It's disappointing that we've gone out, once we've gone 3-1 up you actually think it might be game over, but we were playing against a very good side who had some good spells in the second half and extra time. They can cut you to bits these teams , they're very good with excellent players."

The Spireites had spent most of the 90 minutes in front, but a penalty and a Tommy Lee mistake in the final ten minutes brought Huddersfield back level at 3-3, before the Championship side scored twice more during extra time.

However, the manager was unwilling to blame any individuals for the defeat.

Cook said: "We've done well, unfortunately this time Tommy's made a mistake that's cost us, but that's life and we live with that. I always back my players, we all know how good Tommy Lee's been for this club and unfortnately tonight it's had a really big knock on us because we were over and out in extra time quite quickly. But that's the way it is and you've got to give great credit to Huddersfield for coming back."

Despite going out of the cup Cook was pleased to have pushed a Championship side so far.

He said: "We've had a great start at Orient, we've had a really tough game tonight. It's well documented what's gone on at Huddersfield over the last four days, but Huddersfield are a fantastic club and you only have to look at the calibre of players that they've got and you can see they'll do teams serious damage and tonight they've hurt us, but we've scored three goals against a very good side."
