Spireites volunteer Mick Beddingham has been short-listed for an Unsung Hero award, finding himself up against other finalists from around the globe.Mick, 72, is a finalist in TheStadiumBusiness awards 2014, which will be held in London this summer. He is competing with six others for the award, including nominees from Sweden and the USA.
Mick, who lives in the Brockwell area of Chesterfield, has been involved behind the scenes at the club for over 15 years, raising nearly £40,000 in that time.
He says it has been an honour to be nominated for the award and he is happy that his efforts at the club have been recognised by others. "It's nice that people appreciate the amount of money that I've raised over the years," said Mick.
"I've always been a supporter of Chesterfield Football Club and I've been connected for the last 14 years with the youth section. Fundraising is a big part of it and parents of the young players have come to appreciate what I do."
Spireites chief executive Chris Turner said: "Mick does a lot of great work that goes largely unseen. He would be a deserved winner for the great service he has given the club so we wish him well."
The StadiumBusinessAwards event is at the RAF Museum on Wednesday, June 4.
