Six age groups totalling 88 players set off for the prestigious Barcelona Cup on Wednesday.

With 1600 teams participating from all over the world it is set to be a very exciting six days. We hope the players and staff have a fantastic time and come back with many memorable experiences.

Speaking about the Barcelona tour, chief executive Chris Turner said: "Firstly, I would just like to pinpoint the success of both tours to Holland and Germany. Both tours have been an exceptional experience for players both as footballers and as people.

It is another exciting time with Chesterfield Football Development Schools are offering a tour to Barcelona, Spain and I am certain of another huge success.

"This opportunity allows our players to develop further, allowing the players to become more independent and experiences different cultures. All these life experiences have proved that when a players comes to their time to move to academy or youth team level they are most certainly more well equipped.

"We would like all players to go to learn, be a part of the tournament and represent Chesterfield FC in front of many other clubs from around Europe and the world.

"Above all I would like the players to come away from the tour having enjoyed it throughout, and being proud of being part of Chesterfield Football Club.

"Liam and all staff will make this another superb tour, and allowing your son an opportunity that he may never experience again. I wish all the players who choose to attend, all the very best of luck.
