Youth-team coach Mark Smith pointed to a lack of aggression from his players as he reflected on Saturday's 3-0 defeat at home to Bradford City.

The young Spireites were 1-0 down at half-time and they went further behind around the hour-mark. The visitors rounded off the scoring in the last ten minutes.

"We have little spells in the game when we do all right but we lack a bit of aggression," said Smith. "That is a factor in why we concede goals."

Smith has called on his players to show signs of improvement following a disappointing start to the season. He said: "We're feeling a little sorry for ourselves. We're in a rut at the moment and I'd like to see chinks of light."

Chesterfield line-up: Mason, Edridge, McNicholas, Brock, Hewitt, Maguire, Walshaw (Bayne), Coy (Massey), Johnson, Beesley, Partridge. Unused substitutes: McCready, Mullins, Dakwa.
