Chesterfield chairman Dave Allen has called on fans to turn out in numbers at the Proact to support the team following their impressive, unbeaten start to the season.
Saturday’s 2-0 win at Portsmouth made it four wins and a draw for the Spireites so far this season, taking them to the top of the Sky Bet League 2 table.
The board gave manager Paul Cook substantial backing in the transfer market over the summer, allowing him to overhaul his squad and make nine permanent signings.
With an average attendance of just under 5,500 following the first two home fixtures, Allen is now looking for supporters to flock to the Proact, starting with Saturday’s game against Accrington Stanley.
“We have invested heavily in the squad, bringing in players like Gary Roberts, Jimmy Ryan and Ian Evatt, who have got the whole of League Two talking,” said Allen. “In return, we expect fans to come to the stadium and cheer the team on.
“We’ve got off to a fantastic start and we are pushing for promotion this season but to do that we need to start filling the stadium. Let’s pack the Proact!”
