Chesterfield saw off the challenge of Notts County in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Cylinders Sports Ground.Two goals from Jay O'Shea and an inch-perfect strike from Ollie Banks rounded off a strong performance from the Spireites as they prevailed 3-1.
The Chesterfield side featured a number of first-team players including Aaron Chapman, Liam Cooper, Ian Evatt, Matty Brown, Ryan Edwards, Sam Togwell, Jamie Devitt, Banks, O'Shea, Armand Gnanduillet and Gary McSheffrey with Tendayi Darikwa making a substitute appearance.
Speaking about the victory, first-team coach Kevin Lynch said: "I thought the lads' attitude and commitment was first class. They've played well against a good Notts County team, I thought they were excellent."
Mid-way through the first half, Gnanduillet landed awkwardly on his knee and was forced to leave the game. Lynch expressed his concern at the striker's injury. "It's a little bit early to pinpoint exactly what the problem is so we're unsure of the extent of the injury but currently it doesn't look good," explained the Liverpudlian.
