HRH The Duke of Cambridge could be a VIP guest at the Proact Stadium after expressing interest in watching Chesterfield in action!
Spireites super-fan Jeff Hall (73) invited the future monarch to the Proact for the last match of the season after receiving a ‘Grassroots Hero’ medal from him during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Monday.
After enquiring about the opposition and date of the fixture, His Royal Highness was informed by Jeff that Chesterfield would end the season with a game at home to Fleetwood Town on Saturday, May 3.
“That’s a couple of weeks before the FA Cup final,” Prince William replied. “I’ll come if I’m available. Please contact my private secretary with the details.”

Prince William is no stranger to the area, having had a two-week placement at Chatsworth House in 2005, where he learned first hand about the management of a country estate.
The Duke of Devonshire, who is a distant relative of Prince William, will also be invited to attend the match in his capacity as the club’s patron.
