Nathan Smith's recovery from the fracture he picked up towards the end of last season is nearly complete.Chesterfield's 2012-13 Player of the Season has been making strong progress in his rehabilitation and Smith is confident he will make a full return in time for the Spireites pre-season programme.
Speaking to Spireites Player, the award-winning full-back said: “Rehab’s going well, the cast’s off as you can see. I start running next week so they said just gradually take it slowly and I’ll be fine for pre-season.
“I was doing everything to try and prevent any injuries, which was working, but one thing I couldn’t prevent was a fracture.”
Smith, who was forced to miss the final eight games of the 2012-13 season, wants the Spireites to push for automatic promotion in the new campaign. “I don’t want to go to Wembley, I’d rather go straight up," said the defender.
