The goalkeeping department at the Proact has been strengthened with the signing of a keeper and the appointment of a new goalkeeper coach.Aaron Chapman, 22, has joined the Spireites from non-league Belper Town to provide competition for Tommy Lee while Eric Nixon is the latest addition to the new-look backroom team.
Chapman, at 6'8" tall, is a commanding figure who has been tracked by Premiership and Football League clubs. Prior to linking up with Belper in February of last year, he played for Goole and Parkgate.
After securing Chapman on a one-year contract, Chesterfield manager Paul Cook said: "We've got really high hopes for him because he's got so many attributes for a young lad."
Nixon played for numerous clubs after starting out at Manchester City - most notably Tranmere Rovers - in a career spanning 20 years.
The 50-year-old has been involved in coaching since hanging up his gloves, most recently at Macclesfield Town. He has joined the club on a full-time basis.
