Chesterfield manager, Paul Cook, has outlined that he wants the squad to be ready to 'hit the ground running' at the start of the new season.

Cook revealed to Spireites Player that the backroom staff are working relentlessly to attract new talent to the Proact Stadium.

He said: “We work hard, our recruitment is huge at the club now; from our chief scout, Paul Mitchell, chief exec, we’re all involved in the recruitment of players.”

Since the conclusion of the 2012-13 season, the Spireites boss has secured the signatures of young goalkeeper, Aaron Chapman and Chesterfield stalwart, Drew Talbot.

However, Cook remains determined to bring in more talent to the football club and assemble a squad that will be raring to go on the opening day of the 2013-14 campaign.

“Some of our signings might not come in till very late on, some of our signings might come in this week. What we are doing is trying our best to put that squad together that means we hit the ground running," said the manager.

“We’ve got young lads that we’re after who’ve got all the criteria of players that we want to come in the building. We’re on the trail of them all," Cook added.
