Spireites players Nathan Smith and Richard Brindley visited Westfield Infant School in Chesterfield on ‘World Book Day’
To mark the day, the defensive duo took part in a reading session with the children and then signed autographs.
The Chesterfield FC Community Trust arranged the visit and the school’s deputy head teacher Adrian Whitham was delighted with the outcome. He said: “It’s great for the children to hear the footballers read as it really inspires them and gets the message across that reading is important.
“The children were really excited about the visit. It was the highlight of our day so we’re really grateful to the Community Trust for arranging it.”
World Book Day, which is designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, is marked in over 100 countries.
