The reserves romped to a 5-0 win at home to Bury on Tuesday afternoon.
Marc Richards, Liam Cooper, Jay O'Shea, Danny Whitaker and Kristian Ramsey-Dickson were the goalscorers as the visitors proved to be no match for a strong Spireites line-up.
Manager Paul Cook decided to give the first-team players a run-out following the postponement of Saturday's game against Plymouth Argyle.
Richards (20) opened the scoring after receiving a through ball from O'Shea.
Cooper, with a header, put the Spireites further ahead just a few minutes before the break.
O'Shea added a third goal in the 57th minute when his shot from the edge of the area took a deflection to deceive Conor Keane in the Bury goal.
Whitaker made it 4-0 with a close-range tap-in around the hour-mark.
Ramsey-Dickson, who was making another appearance on trial after coming on as a replacement for Richards, completed the scoring in the last minute.
It was a dominant performance from Chesterfield, who created a number of other chances.
Chesterfield: Lee, Talbot, Townsend (Brindley 70), Randall, Trotman, Cooper, Darikwa, Togwell (Clay 70), Richards (Ramsey-Dickson 57), Whitaker, O'Shea Unused substitutes: Barrington & Wafula.
