The Chesterfield and Mansfield Town legends ran out comprehensive winners in the annual Jamie Walker charity match played at Glapwell on Sunday.
Around 1,000 people enjoyed the game, soaking in the sunshine and drinking the fine array of 'beverages' on offer.
The game included former Chesterfield players Jamie Ward, Bob Newton and Shane Nicholson. Although originally stating his intention to play, Spireites manager, Paul Cook missed out through illness.
The game finished 10-3 with Derby County forward Jamie Ward bagging four of the goals, including one from the half-way line. Shane Nicholson rolled back the years, darting in from the left, before coolly chipping the goalkeeper to get on the scoresheet.
Soap stars including Danny Miller, and Kelvin Fletcher from Emmerdale played a large part in the game.
The day itself, however, was all about raising money for the three chosen charities, Once Upon a Smile, the King's Mill Hospital Scanner Appeal (Cancer & Lymphoma Unit) and the CFC Community Trust.
Jamie Walker, organiser of the event, revealed after the game that the charity had finally raised over £100,000 and he doesn’t plan on stopping there.
Played in very good spirits, the day was an overall success and is something everyone involved can be proud of.
