Chesterfield FC Youth Team continued their preparation for the new season with a 6-2 win over Hallam FC.
Goals from Oliver Brock, Joe Bayne, Jake Beesley (2), Fabian Johnson and Lewis Carey helped the Spireites to victory at Sandygate Road, the oldest football ground in the world.
Youth Team coach Mark Smith said that while the result was good they never reached the heights they did against Rotherham on Saturday. He said: “We didn’t quite reach the standards we set ourselves at the weekend but there were some well worked goals and we finished well.”
Smith also believes his side should win the league this season and the players share that ambition. He added: “We need to work on some things but certainly we have enough quality, especially going forward and if we score more than the opposition we will generally be okay.”
