22 July 2013

The Spireites welcome League One side Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Proact Stadium on Tuesday, July 23, as they look to maintain their unbeaten home record in pre-season.

After impressive home displays against Championship outfits Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest, the Blues will be looking to bounce back following a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Southport on Saturday.

This is the first meeting between the two sides since the 2006/07 Carling Cup first round tie at Saltergate, a game that Chesterfield won on penalties. This victory was followed by wins over West Ham United and Manchester City as the Spireites enjoyed a good cup run, which culminated in a defeat to Charlton Athletic in the Fourth Round.

Wolves have won three of their four pre-season games, with victories over East Fife, Livingston and Wrexham, before drawing 2-2 against Barnsley most recently. Leigh Griffiths has impressed for Wanderers upon his return to the club, following a successful loan spell with Hibernian last campaign and has two goals so far in pre-season.

New manager, Kenny Jackett will be looking to steady the ship at Molineux this season, following back-to-back relegations from the Premier League and the Championship. They will be strong candidates for an immediate return to the second tier of English football.

Tuesday's match is a 7:45pm kick off and tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
