Calow Primary School have entered into an official partnership with the football club.

Calow Headteacher, Martin Thacker along with Calow students, 11-year-old, Erin Leece and ten-year-old Ben Haynes were invited to the Proact Stadium to receive their school's certificate and take tour of the stadium to celebrate the new partnership.

Historically, the Community Trust have delivered after-school clubs to a whole range of different schools in north-east Derbyshire but in a move to strengthen the club's relationship with the community, partnerships are being offered to every school in the local area.

Speaking on behalf of the Community Trust, Rachel Booth said: "Being a partner means the school gets to proudly display a certificate in the reception area and they’re entitled to a whole range of different benefits we can offer here at the club.

Breakfast clubs, lunchtime clubs, after-school clubs, player visits (minimum of one per year), Chester the Fieldmouse visits, the opportunity of free match tickets, discounts on stadium tours and Chester’s Match Day Club are just some of the advantages of becoming a Chesterfield partner.

"We’re getting more people into the stadium, getting more people to become Chesterfield fans and improving the relationship between the Community Trust and local schools," added Booth.

In response to the partnership, Thacker said: "Looking at the partnership agreement and what the package is, I think there’s so much that we can take advantage of. I know that the staff are enthusiastic about it, the pupils certainly are and I think they’re very envious that we’re here at the Proact Stadium.

"This new beginning is going to be great for both of us," added Calow Primary School's Headteacher.

The Community Trust will be working with the Chesterfield School Sports Partnership to develop the scheme further.

If you are a parent, a governor or are involved with a school in the area and would like to get involved in the partnership please contact Rachel or Chris at the Community Trust for more information.
