First team coach, Kevin Lynch, was happy with Chesterfield’s performance on Tuesday night, despite slipping to a 2-1 defeat against League One outfit, Wolves.
Lynch, who joined Paul Cook's backroom staff this summer, believed it was a good work-out for the players, he said: “I thought the game was played at a great tempo. There were two very good teams on show and we got out of it what we wanted.
“All we have to do is maintain the focus and the attitude the lads have shown has been first class, and tonight has been a good work out for the lads, so all-in-all, we are pleased,” Lynch added.
The First Team Coach was pleased with how the visitors approached the game.
“Wolves are a very good team and it was a test for our lads, but I thought we stood up to it well,” said Lynch. “It shows when Wolves play such a compliment, having gone 4-4-2 in the first half and matching us up in terms of our play, it’s a massive compliment to us."
Versatile player, Drew Talbot, was on the scoresheet last night, after levelling the scores before half time with a sublime left footed finish.
Lynch had only good words to say about the player: “I’m pleased for Drew because he is ‘Mr Consistent’ at the moment. The lad is an excellent role model to the others in the way he trains and what he does. I’m pleased for him today."
Looking forward to the start of the league campaign against Bury in less than two weeks, the coach is confident the team will be ready, and be a force in the division.
He said: “Everyone’s chomping at the bit. We are looking forward to the Bury game, and it’s a real focus of ours. With the performance of tonight, we can see that we are ready for the Bury game, so we’ll keep the lads ticking over and maintain the standards for August."
Lynch spoke about the recent arrival to the Spireites side, Ryan Edwards. He believes the player will bring positivity to the side.
He added: “Ryan’s come in on loan for us and is a great addition to the team. He’s a very good centre half, which is something we may need. I’m pleased for Ryan to be on board with us, he’ll learn from us because we’ve got great players in our team."
